Executive Summary

Council provided direction to bring forward an ordinance amendment to amend the start time of regular Council meetings from 7:30PM to 7:00PM.  First reading was held on January 19 and is being recommended for adoption at this time.

Background

In late 2022, discussions had occurred regarding amending the start time of Council meetings from 7:30PM to 7:00PM and moving Council workshops to 5:30PM.  A review of peer cities shows most meetings begin at 7:00PM and amending the start time would be consistent with current boards and commissions.  To communicate meeting time changes through the upcoming newsletter, adoption of the ordinance is being recommended at this time through a special meeting of the Council.  If adopted, the new meeting times will be effective beginning with the March 6 Council meeting.
