Executive Summary

Officers Jake Green, Logan Larson, and Trent Bachman are being recognized for their accomplishments in keeping the roadways in our community safer. Officers Green and Larson were selected to the DWI All-Star Team by the Office of Traffic Safety and are being presented with the DWI All-Star bat, hat, and pin. Officer Bachman earned the Minnesota Towards Zero Deaths (TZD) Challenge Coin and Certificate.

Background

The DWI All-Star Team is made up of 23 officers and deputies from around the Twin Cities area who are selected based on the number of DWI arrest they made last year. In 2021, the All-Stars made 1,847 combined DWI arrests in the Twin Cities area. The Twin Cities and Greater Minnesota All-Stars together made 4,193 DWI arrests across the entire State of Minnesota. Their efforts contributed to the more than 24,000 DWI arrests made by all of law enforcement last year.

Officer Green conducted 809 hours of DWI enforcement. During that time, he conducted 982 traffic stops throughout the City of Blaine. He located and arrested 60 people for DWI. Some of these arrests were aided by Officer Green’s newly acquired skill as a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).  This is a certification that he was trained to during the Grant period and he is one of only three BPD Officers to earn that title.  Green was able to maintain an average of .98 stops per hour. This is despite the decreased volume of vehicles travelling late at night due to COVID restrictions. He took 90 people into custody, issued 459 citations, towed 45 vehicles, issued 94 DAR/DAS/DAC citations.  In adding these stats to the warnings he has given, Officer Green has issued a total of 999 violations.   This is Officer Green’s second time on the DWI All-Star Team. Officer Green also earned the MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving), DUI Top Enforcer Silver pin. This pin is awarded to law enforcement officers who make 50-99 DUI arrests during the year.

Officer Logan Larson was working for the Centennial Lakes Police Department last year.  During that time, he had 78 DWI arrests, issued 660 traffic and equipment warnings, 216 traffic citations, and 21 DAR/DAS/DAC citations.  He also had 74 vehicles towed, arrested 32 people for controlled substance offenses, and 6 people for weapons offenses.

Officer Trent Bachman is being recognized for his commitment to traffic safety and lifesaving police work.  On May 30, 2022, Officer Bachman worked a 4-hour TZD shift in which he stopped 16 vehicles, wrote 14 seat belt citations, two hands free citations, one DAR citation and issued eight citations for other violations.  He also gave out five warnings.  This was completed during the Speed/Seat Belt/Distracted Driving enforcement period.  Accordingly, he is being recognized with a TZD coin and certificate.
