Executive Summary

Council is asked to approve a one-day off-site gambling application for CLIMB Theatre for an event on February 25, 2022.

 

Background

CLIMB Theatre has submitted an application to conduct off-site charitable gambling on February 25, 2022, at the Blaine Super Rink to conduct raffles and pull-tabs as part of an event with proceeds going back to their community organization.  As a non-profit organization CLIMB Theatre is eligible to conduct gambling activity.  The Gambling Control Board will not issue an off-site permit for charitable gambling within a city unless the sponsoring organization obtains city approval through Council resolution; therefore, this resolution is being presented to the Council for approval.

WHEREAS, CLIMB Theatre, 6415 Carmen Avenue, Inver Grove Heights, has applied for an off-site gambling permit at the Blaine Super Rink to be held on February 25, 2022; and

 

WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes 349.213, Subd. 2, states that the Gambling Control Board may not issue an off-site gambling permit within the City of Blaine unless the City Council approves the off-site permit within sixty (60) days of the date of application. 

 

                     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Blaine as follows:

The application for the off-site gambling permit for the purpose of conducting charitable gambling is hereby approved.

 

A certified copy of this resolution shall be provided to the applicant as soon as possible for submittal to the Gambling Control Board.
