Approve Plans and Specifications and Order Advertisement for Bids for the 99^th Avenue and 101^st Avenue Rehabilitation, Improvement Project No. 21-08

Executive Summary

The Public Hearing for the proposed improvement project was held on February 1, 2021, and the City Council ordered the preparation of plans and specifications with Resolution No. 21-014. The proposed project will reconstruct the following streets:

• 99^th Avenue from 101^st Avenue to Trunk Highway 65

• 101^st Avenue from 99^th Avenue to University Avenue

Background

Proposed improvements include a 2.5-inch mill/overlay, including a chip seal on the milled surface, upgrades to the existing signal system at the 99th Avenue/Clover Leaf Parkway intersection and repairs to the existing sidewalk, traffic control signage, and appurtenant construction. 

Plans and specifications have been prepared as directed and are available for Council review in the Engineering Department.

Body

WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 21-014 of the Blaine City Council, adopted on the 1st day of February, 2021, Plans and specifications have been prepared for the 99th Avenue and 101^st Avenue Rehabilitations; and

WHEREAS, the Engineering Department has presented such plans and specification to the City Council for their approval.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Blaine as follows:

1.                     Such plans and specifications, copies of which are filed in the Engineering Department, are hereby approved.

2.                     The City Manager shall prepare and cause to be inserted in the official newspaper of the City an advertisement for bid for making of such improvements pursuant to the approved plans and specifications.

3.                     Such advertisement for bids shall call for sealed bids to be received in compliance with Notice of Contractor for the advertisement for bids.
