APPROVE 2021 CAPITAL ITEM PURCHASE OF 800 MHZ RADIOS
Background
In the adoption of the 2021 Capital Budget, Council appropriated funding for certain pieces of equipment in the Capital Equipment Plan, including $118,000 for the purchase of 24 800MHz radios. Pursuant to the City Charter, Sec. 6.05, staff is requesting City Council approval for the actual purchase of the radios (both squad-mounted and portable.) This is the final year of a scheduled three-year replacement cycle of police radios. Initially, 2020 was to be the final year of the replacement schedule; due to cost containment measures, the purchase of the radios was deferred to 2021. These radios will be purchased through Anoka County.
