Title
APPROVE PAYMENT OF $31,836.43 TO VALLEY-RICH CO, INC. FOR EMERGENCY REPAIRS TO SANITARY SEWER
Background
In May 2019, a sinkhole was reported on Oak Ridge Trail near the intersection with Oak Park Drive. Upon investigation it was determined that a section of sewer main had partially collapsed and was in danger of collapsing a section of the road and also fully blocking the sanitary sewer.
The sewer was over 15 feet deep and would require extensive dewatering. This type of repair was beyond the resources of the Public Works staff and so we called in one of our trusted contractors, Valley-Rich Company, to complete the repair.
The repair included removal and replacement of 20-30 of sewer main, the connecting manhole and several service tie-ins. The underground work was competed immediately and pavement repairs followed shortly thereafter.
The result was a high quality repair completed quickly to minimize disruption to our citizens.
Recommendation
By motion, approve payment of $31,836.43 to Valley-Rich Co, Inc. for emergency sanitary sewer repairs.
