APPROVE THE USE OF CHARITABLE GAMBLING FUNDS FOR ELECTRICAL UPGRADES AT THE CHURCH OF ST. TIMOTHY

Background

The City has been asked to assist the Church of St. Timothy, 707 89^th Avenue, NE, in providing electrical upgrades to the Church’s homeless shelter.  Pursuant to an inspection, the church installed four smoke detectors with hard wiring at a cost of $1,292.00.  The City will provide a payment to St. Timothy for that same amount.  The source of the funds is the City’s Charitable Gambling Fund.  Per Minnesota statutes the use of Charitable Gambling proceeds to relieve the effects of homelessness is a proper use of the funds.

Recommendation

By motion, approve the payment of $1,292.00 the Church of St. Timothy.
