APPROVE OF RESTROOM IMPROVEMENTS IN CITY HALL FIRE GARAGE IN THE AMOUNT OF $26,906
Background
Staff had budgeted $25,000 in our facilities maintenance fund to remodel and install a shower in the bathroom located in the fire garage attached to City Hall. This is a health and safety improvement for fire personnel. Studies have linked increased rates of cancer and other health issues to fire fighters because of the different materials and chemicals they come in contact while responding to calls. The shower will allow them to clean-up immediately after calls.
The City has received two quotes for this work.
McGough $47,912
Cobra Construction $26,906
Staff is recommending to proceed with the quote from Cobra Construction to perform this work. While it exceeds the budgeted amount, there are sufficient funds in the facilities maintenance fund for this project.
Recommendation
By motion, accept the quote from Cobra Construction for restroom improvements for the fire garage at City Hall and authorize the Mayor and City Manager to sign a contract with Cobra Construction for an amount not to exceed $26,906.
