Title
REVIEW OF TRAFFIC DATA ON OLD RADISSON ROAD
Background
At the April 2nd Commission meeting staff presented a request to review the speed limit on Radisson Road from Cloud Drive to 124th Lane. The discussion was to have staff collect data to determine if an urban district should be declared along this corridor. The current speed posted speed limit is 35mph and an urban district would allow the city to post it at 30mph without requiring a speed from the Commissioner of Transportation.
Staff was able to place the tube counters in the corridor from April 23-25. The data collected shows an 85% speed of 36mph in the southbound and 39mph for northbound traffic. The 39mph is at the limit where the police department will need to start enforcement on the corridor.
Recommendation
Staff is recommending that the commission recommend leaving the speed limit at 35mph on the portion of Radisson Road and that the police department add this to the patrol list to begin an education and enforcement campaign.
