Title

AUTHORIZE CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 IN THE AMOUNT OF $35,804.36 FOR LIFT STATION 10 IMPROVEMENTS FOR ADDITIONAL WORK PERFORMED

 

Background

On May 3, 2018, this project was awarded to Electric Pump in the amount of $63,135.00 via Motion 18-73 for the replacement of submersible pumps and associated piping or appurtenances for Lift Station 10. 

 

Change Order No. 1 falls outside of the approved project budget and consists of additional work that was not on the original bid documents consisting of:

 

                     Removal of concrete poured invert. 

                     Reconstruction of lift station manhole base. 

                     Replacement of all mounting hardware.

 

Upon initiating the work, it was determined that the original pump bases and support hardware had been covered in concrete during the construction of the lift station invert.  This was unexpected as it is not the standard construction practice for this type of installation.  This resulted in the need to perform additional confined space entry and remove approximately two feet of concrete with a hand held jackhammer and then rebuild the entire base structure from the inside.  Additional new replacement mounting hardware was then needed to complete the project.

 

There are sufficient funds available in the Sewer Enterprise Funds for this Change Order.

                     

Recommendation

By motion, approve Change Order No. 1 in the amount of $35,804.36, amend the total contract budget to $98,939.36, and authorize the Director of Public Works to sign said Change Order No. 1.
