RATIFICATION OF LOCAL 392 (POLICE CAPTAINS) LABOR AGREEMENT FOR 2019-21

The City of Blaine and the Police Captains have reached agreement on the labor contract covering the three years beginning January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2021.
1. Wage Adjustments
2019 (3.0%) 2020 (3.0%) 2021 (3.0%)
2. An increase in the City’s monthly contribution to the cafeteria plan for the plan year 2019 of $50, making the monthly amount $1,290; an increase in the City’s monthly contribution to the cafeteria plan for 2020 of $50, which will make the monthly contribution $1,340; and an increase in the City’s monthly contribution to the cafeteria plan for 2021 of $50, which will make the monthly contribution $1,390.
3. Beginning in 2019, the Captains Union will accrue sick and vacation leave benefits as outlined in the City’s policy.
4. As the Police Chief has implemented a reorganization of the police department, the positions that were formerly Lieutenants are now Captains. The agreement cleans up that language, removing references to Lieutenants and replacing with Captains.
RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION
By motion, ratify the contract between the Police Captains Law Enforcement Labor Services Local 392 and the City of Blaine for calendar years 2019-2021.
