COUNCIL UPDATE ON GARBAGE, RECYCLING MARKETS, ORGANICS PROGRAM, AND THE GREAT RIVER ENERGY WASTE TO ENERGY PLANT
Background
City Staff and representatives from Walters Recycling and Refuse will update the City Council on a number of issues that are occurring in the solid waste and recycling field. Of particular concern is the impending closing of the Great River Energy waste to energy plant in Elk River, and the collapse of recycling markets for material collected and processed in the US.
