Title

A RESOLUTION DECLARING CERTAIN PROPERTY SURPLUS AND AUTHORIZING SALE AND/OR DISPOSAL THEREOF

Background

When the Public Works building expanded a few years ago, an outdoor water filling station was installed.  This filling station allows contractors to fill their water trucks using a code that is issued by the City.  In the past, hydrant water meters were issued to a contractor, which required staff to track each meter.  The meters also were not equipped with backflow prevention.

Public Works staff has reviewed our inventory and determined there are several meters that are no longer useful to the City and recommend that they be designated as surplus property by the City Council in order to dispose of by sale per Policy.  The City will maintain a stock of newer hydrant meters that have backflow prevention to be used if necessary.

The identified equipment recommended for disposal by sale and its estimated fair market value includes:

(21) Hydrant Meters                     $50.00 each

Financial Impacts

Any revenue realized with the sale of this property shall be placed in the Capital Equipment Fund for future appropriation by the City Council.

Recommendation

By Motion, adopt the Resolution.
