Title
ACCEPTING QUOTE FOR OSTMANS PARK STORM SEWER REPAIR, IMPROVEMENT NO. 17-10, IN THE AMOUNT OF $31,458.00 FROM JULIAN M JOHNSON CONSTRUCTION
Background
There are two failing storm outlet structures on the storm water pond located on the east half of Ostmans Park. These structures each consist of a corrugated drop manhole and flared end outlet, all of which have corroded to the point where sinkholes and washouts are occurring on the pond bank. This project would remove the corrugated metal structures and replace them with precast concrete structures.
Quotes were requested from three different contractors which the City has worked with before on projects of a similar nature. The Engineer’s Estimate and quotes received were as follows:

Quotes have been checked and tabulated and it has been determined that Julian M. Johnson Construction of Ramsey, MN submitted the lowest responsible quote. The Engineering Department has worked with Julian M. Johnson Construction on previous contracts. Staff recommends the low quote be accepted and a contract entered into with Julian M. Johnson Construction.
City Council is also asked to approve a 10% contingency to bring the total project budget to $34,604.00. The funding source for this project is the Storm Water Utility Fund and there are sufficient funds to cover these costs.
Recommendation
By motion, authorize the City Manager to accept the quote from Julian M. Johnson Construction in the amount of $31,458.00 for the Ostmans Park Storm Sewer Repair project, authorize a 10% contingency, bringing the total project budget to $34,604.00, and authorize the Director of Public Works to sign all change orders up to the authorized project budget amount.
