Title

AUTHORIZE TEMPORARY REMOVAL OF PARKING RESTRICTIONS ON ULYSSES STREET AND 98TH AVENUE TO ACCOMMODATE A TWIN CITIES HARLEY OPEN HOUSE ON SEPTEMBER 22, 2018

Background

The City of Blaine received a request on August 10, 2018, from Twin Cities Harley, requesting temporary removal of parking restrictions on Ulysses Street from their south entrance to 98th Avenue and on 98th Avenue from Ulysses Street to Buchanan Street in order to allow parking on those streets for their Open House on September 22, 2018.  They expect a need for additional parking to accommodate their customers.

Staff recommends authorization for temporary parking on Ulysses Street from their south entrance to 98th Avenue and on 98th Avenue from Ulysses Street to Buchanan Street as indicated on the attached map.

City Council authorization is required for the temporary lifting of parking restrictions.  City Council has previously authorized similar temporary lifting of parking restrictions for other business for similar customer appreciation events.

Recommendation

By motion, authorize the temporary removal of parking restrictions on Ulysses Street from the Twin Cities Harley’s south entrance to 98th Avenue and on 98th Avenue from Ulysses Street to Buchanan Street, from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, September, 2018.
