Title

PHEASANT RIDGE DRIVE AND CITY ENTRANCE MONUMENT SIGNS

Background

At the March 8 workshop, concepts for the Pheasant Ridge Business Park monument sign were presented along with information regarding replacement and installation of new City monument signs.  Since that meeting staff has received two revised options for the Pheasant Ridge Drive sign.  Secondly, staff has inventoried the existing City monument signs and has prepared a map of where new signs could be located.  The current City monument signs would be removed and in some instances, replaced in their current location.  Also included are four different City monument sign designs.  Staff would propose the following installation plan for new City monument signs.

2018/2019:

County Rd. 10 near Northtown (replace existing sign)

Hwy. 65 and 89th Ave. (replace existing sign)

County Rd. 10 and Able St. (replace a former sign)

2020:

                     University Ave. and 125th Ave.

                     Radisson Rd and  95th Ave

§                     OR 95th Ave. and Hamline Ave.

2021:

Radisson Road at the North City Limits

                     Lexington Ave. and Ball Road

When Development/Platting Occurs:

                     125th Ave. and Sunset Ave.

Lexington Ave. at the North City limits

                     Sunset Ave. and 109th Ave.

Once preferred designs choices are made, staff will determine costs.  It’s anticipated that signs will cost approximately $30,000 each and would be funded from the EDA General Fund as a budgeted item.  The design consultant is also looking at various landscaping and lighting options.  In certain instances easements would need to be obtained from private property owners or Anoka County would have to permit signs in their right-of-way.

Recommendation

Staff would like direction from the City Council on the following items:

1.)                     Choose design for Pheasant Ridge Business Park.

2.)                     Choose design for City entrance monuments.

3.)                     Provide input on proposed City entrance monument sign locations.

4.)                     Provide input on the installation schedule.
