Background

As part of the 105^th Avenue reconstruction project the Connexus transmission line will be removed from the overhead poles and buried along the north side of the corridor from TH 65 to Radisson Road.  This will enable overstory trees and other landscaping features to be introduced into the corridor.  Staff received an invoice for this work from Connexus Energy to bury electrical power along 105^th Avenue in the amount of $339,541.  The proposal includes total material, labor, and electrical line control cabinets for the lines to be buried.

The cost of burying the electrical power is included in the overall project budget and will be funded through the City’s Municipal State Aid funds, Pooled TIF, and State Bonding.

Recommendation

By motion, authorize the Mayor and City Manager to enter into contract with Connexus Energy in the amount of $339,541 to bury electrical power along 105^th Avenue.
