GRANTING APPROVAL TO CONDUCT OFF-SITE GAMBLING AT AQUATORE PARK, 9191 LINCOLN STREET, ON JUNE 24 AND 25, 2017 FOR BLAINE’S BLAZIN’ 4TH DBA BLAINE FESTIVAL
Background
Blaine’s Blazin’ 4th, dba Blaine Festival, has submitted an application to conduct off-site charitable gambling on June 24 and 25, 2017 at Aquatore Park for a bingo event with proceeds going back to the community. The Blaine Festival organization currently has a premises permit for Blainbrook Entertainment and Clives Roadhouse Blaine.
The Gambling Control Board will not issue an off-site permit for charitable gambling within a city unless the sponsoring organization obtains city approval through Council resolution; therefore, this resolution is being presented to the Council for approval.
Recommendation
By motion adopt the proposed Resolution.
Body
WHEREAS, Blaine’s Blazin’ 4th, dba Blaine Festival, 10801 Town Square Drive NE, Blaine has applied for an off-site gambling permit at Aquatore Park to be held on June 24 and 25, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes 349.213, Subd. 2, states that the Gambling Control Board may not issue an off-site gambling permit within the City of Blaine unless the City Council approves the off-site permit within sixty (60) days of the date of application.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Blaine as follows:
a. The application for the off-site gambling permit for the purpose of conducting charitable gambling is hereby approved.
b. A certified copy of this resolution shall be provided to the applicant as soon as possible for submittal to the Gambling Control Board.
