CITY OF BLAINE EMERGENCY OPERATION PLAN
Background
At the April 6, 2017 workshop staff presented to Council the City of Blaine Emergency Operations Plan to review and discuss. Council postponed the item at the April 6, 2017 meeting to review at the April 20, 2017 meeting, then and postponed again to provide Council some further information; the Emergency Operations Plan is being presented at this time for approval.
Recommendation
By motion, adopt the Resolution approving the City of Blaine Emergency Operation Plan.
Body
WHEREAS, the primary purpose of this plan is to provide a guide for emergency operations. It is intended to assist key city officials and emergency organizations to carry out their responsibilities for the protection of life and property under a wide range of emergency conditions.
WHEREAS, a written plan will furnish a documentary record which can be referred to as needed. This documentary record will serve to refresh the knowledge of key individuals and can be used to inform persons who become replacements.
WHEREAS, an emergency plan is needed to enable government to continue to operate and carry out emergency functions, and to protect the public, and in some cases the environment, from the effects of natural disasters, major disasters and national security emergencies that pose a potential threat to public health and safety in the City of Blaine.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Blaine hereby adopts the attached City of Blaine Emergency Operation Plan.
