Title

APPROVE PAYMENT OF $80,722.20 TO VALLEY-RICH FOR EMERGENCY WATERMAIN REPAIRS ON 126TH AND JAMESTOWN

Background

In late July the City became aware of a water main break at 126th and Jamestown that needed to be repaired immediately as it was creating sewer backups and it had undermined the street.   When the utility crews started looking at the repairs it became apparent that because of the depth and the amount of sand the water main leak sucked out, the whole street would need to be removed in order to repair the water main and stop the sewer back ups.  In order to maintain utilities to the residents on this street it was decided that emergency repairs were needed to get started on repairing the water main.  Staff contracted with Valley-Rich to repair the water main and to get the street back in order.  The cost for this emergency repair was $80,722.20.

Recommendation

Authorize payment of $80,722.20 to Valley-Rich for the emergency water main repairs on 126th and Jamestown.
