Title
GRANTING APPROVAL TO CONDUCT OFF-SITE GAMBLING
AT THE TPC ON NOVEMBER 17-18, 2014 FOR THE
SPRING LAKE PARK LIONS
Background
The Spring Lake Park Lions have submitted an application to conduct off-site charitable gambling on November 17th and 18th at the TPC for a bingo event with proceeds going back to the community.
The Gambling Control Board will not issue an off-site permit for charitable gambling within a city unless the sponsoring organization obtains city approval through Council resolution; therefore, this resolution is being presented to the Council for approval.
Recommendation
By motion approve the Resolution.
Body
WHEREAS, the Spring Lake Park Lions, 8433 Center Drive, Spring Lake Park has applied for an off-site gambling permit at the TPC to be held on November 17 and 18, 2014 and
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes 349.213, Subd. 2, states that the Gambling Control Board may not issue an off-site gambling permit within the City of Blaine unless the City Council approves the off-site permit within sixty (60) days of the date of application.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Blaine as follows:
The application for the off-site gambling permit for the purpose of conducting charitable gambling is hereby approved.
A certified copy of this resolution shall be provided to the applicant as soon as possible for submittal to the Gambling Control Board.
