IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 10-10

Background

Project No. 10-10 includes spot curb and gutter replacement, storm sewer structures, asphalt surface, revision of traffic signals, traffic control signage and striping, and appurtenant construction.  The total cost of the project is as follows:

The total project cost indicated in the Feasibility Report was $1,234,050.00.

The Assessment Roll has been prepared consistent with the Feasibility Report.  The properties are being assessed 50% of the entire cost of the street improvement.  Of the total cost, the amount to be assessed is $250,893.25. The Public Utility Fund will contribute $12,756.38 for water and sewer improvements.  Municipal State Aid (MSA) contribution is $546,204.78.

Recommendation

By motion, approve the resolution.

Body

WHEREAS, a contract has been entered into for construction of spot curb and gutter replacement, storm sewer structures, asphalt surface, revision of traffic signals, traffic control signage and striping, and appurtenant construction in the following described area:

Jefferson Street NE and 87^th Lane NE from 85^th Avenue NE to 89^th Avenue NE along with 7^th Street NE and Washington Street NE from 87^th Lane NE to CSAH 10.

AND WHEREAS, the construction cost for such improvement is $620,552.85 and the expenses incurred in the making of said improvements amount to be $189,301.56 making the total cost $809,854.41.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Blaine as follows:

1.      The total cost of such improvement is hereby declared to be $809,854.41.

2.      The amount to be assessed is hereby declared to be $250,893.25.  The Public Utility Fund will contribute $12,756.38.  Municipal State Aid (MSA) contribution is $546,204.78.

3.      The City Manager shall forthwith calculate the proper amount to be specially assessed for such improvement against every assessable lot, piece, or parcel of land within the district affected without regard to cash valuation, as provided by law, and he shall file a copy of such proposed assessment in his office for public inspection.
