AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF LIFT STATION REPLACEMENT PUMPS
Background
Lift Stations 12 and 13, two of the largest pumping stations the City maintains, are twenty years old and scheduled for rehabilitation in 2014. The rehab includes new pumps, controls and generators. One of the pumps at #13 failed in 2013 and was replaced. Recently the second pump failed. With a lead time of 10 to12 weeks needed to order and install the pumps, staff is recommending that the City purchase the pumps directly, rather than the contractor, and instruct the awarded contractor to install them. Not only would this shorten the time to complete the two projects, but it would eliminate the sales tax and mark up that the contractor would charge. Approved budget appropriations for the rehab of the lift stations are $200,000 for #12, and $170,000 for #13. Staff received quotes for the pumps and they are listed below.

By Motion, approve the purchase of replacement pumps for Lift Stations 12 and 13 from WW Goetsch Associates, Inc. for $91,344.00 to be charged to the budgeted Sanitary Sewer project funds.
