Title

AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH BARR ENGINEERING/LARSON DATA COMMUNICATIONS FOR RADIO/NETWORK DESIGN DEVELOPMENT AND SITE AUDITS OF OUR UTILITY SYSTEM IN THE AMOUNT OF $83,900

Background

This item is the follow up to Barr Engineering’s audit report on our Utility System.  They made several high-priority interim improvement recommendations that have been completed.  They also recommended two longer term improvements.  These were:

-                     Perform Field Radio Study and Design New Communication Networks to improve long term communications of our Utility/SCADA system.

-                     Audit SCADA Sites to Determine Specific Hardware Upgrades

Barr has provided us with a proposal to perform both these tasks which would include utilizing Larson Data Communications for doing the radio path study with a total cost of $83,900.

Funds would come from the City Utility Funds.

Recommendation

By motion authorize City Manager to enter into contract with Barr Engineering/Larson Data Communication for radio/network design development and site audits of our Utility/SCADA system in the amount of $83,900.
