Title
APPROVE A 2013 THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE INDIVIDUAL LICENSE
Background
In November 2011 the Police Chief, City Clerk and City Attorney drafted an ordinance to regulate massage therapists. This ordinance repealed the former Massage Parlor Ordinance.
On April 19, 2012 the City Council approved the new ordinance requiring all massage therapists be licensed. The ordinance became effective May 19, 2012.
Attached is an Individual Massage Therapist license application staff received along with required documentation, the license fee and a background investigation fee. The Blaine Police Department has conducted a background investigation on this individual and found nothing to prohibit issuance of their license.
This license will be effective for the 2013 calendar year.
Recommendation
By motion, approve the 2013 Therapeutic Massage Individual license.
