Title
ACCEPTING THE PROPOSAL OF AN EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT FROM DAVID REIS TO CONSTRUCT A PICNIC SHELTER AT JEFFERSON PARK.

Background
David Reis is proposing an Eagle Scout Project at Jefferson Park. Mr. Reis' project consists of building a 15 x 20 foot wood picnic shelter with a pitched shingled roof and a concrete floor.

The location of the shelter is between the multi-use court and playground.  This location is favorable as it provides short access from the parking lot and is next to the playground offering a relaxed and shaded area for adult supervision. By adding picnic tables it becomes a family picnicking option.  This would provide an added amenity for all park users to enjoy.  Mr. Reis is fund raising for the materials and is recruiting volunteers for the labor.

Mr. Reis' shelter specifications will be approved by the Building Inspection Department and a side view copy is attached along with the site plan. If the project is approved, further structural inspections will be required during construction that should begin in May. The Park Board reviewed the project plan and specifications at the March 27, 2012 meeting and recommended the City Council accept the proposed Eagle Scout Project by David Reis to construct a picnic shelter at Jefferson Park.
Recommendation
By motion, accept the proposed Eagle Scout Project by David Reis to construct a picnic shelter at Jefferson Park.
