AMENDMENT NUMBER ONE TO THE 2012 S.C.O.R.E AGREEMENT WITH ANOKA COUNTY
Background
The Anoka County Board of Commissioners has made some excess S.C.O.R.E. funds available to local units of government for the purpose of enhancing and expanding their existing recycling programs. The City of Blaine is eligible to receive a grant and staff would like to use available grant dollars to help promote the City's curbside and monthly recycling drop-off day opportunities through a series of mail pieces to be developed and mailed by the end of the year. Staff would also like to add mattress recycling to the recycling drop-off day.
The total grant amount is for $25,065, and will be available to the City as a reimbursement for expenses. Program elements include three promotional mailings that will focus on monthly drop-off day recycling opportunities, the additional plastics that can be recycled in the curbside program, and an overall comprehensive piece recycling program, as well as the cost of adding mattress recycling to the program. Promotional mailing costs are estimated at $8,155 each, and the mattress-recycling program is estimated to cost $150 for each drop-off day.
