AUTHORIZE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITHPIONEER ENGINEERING IN A NOT-TO-EXCEED AMOUNT OF $21,000 FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES IN THE GARDENWOOD PLAT AREA IN ACCORDANCE WITH PROPOSAL DATED OCTOBER 4, 2011 (REV. OCTOBER 10, 2011)
Background
The Engineering Department requested a proposal from Pioneer Engineering for engineering services to prepare construction plans, complete record drawings and do construction staking. Pioneer Engineering had prepared the original plans for the Gardenwood Project and has the base drawing information. The construction plans will be used to construct public improvements including concrete sidewalk, bituminous trails, bituminous wear course, and Ghia Street. Completion of record drawings will provide the City information on construction details originally installed by the developer of the Gardenwood plat. Record drawings are the permanent archive of construction plans. Construction staking will be required to provide the contractor appropriate line and grade to construct the improvements. Bids to construct the improvements will be taken this winter. Pioneer Engineering's proposal is estimated at $21,000 and will be funded by settlement monies recovered for the project from the bonding company. This item comes before Council for approval to meet City Charter requirements for a contract over $10,000.
Recommendation
By motion, authorize City Manager to contract with Pioneer Engineering in a not-to-exceed amount of $21,000 for engineering services associated with the plat of Gardenwood.
