EAGLE SCOUT JOSH BOSTROM
WHEREAS, the conferring of an Eagle Scout is one of the highest awards that can be bestowed upon a Boy Scout; and
WHEREAS, this award is earned in that the recipient must perform and successfully complete and pass the rigid requirements exacted to achieve an Eagle Scout award and only five percent of all Scouts achieve this goal; and
WHEREAS, it is also the desire of the City to encourage community groups and residents to take an active role in assisting the City in taking pride in enjoying its parks and open spaces by volunteering in efforts of beautification and cleanliness; and
WHEREAS, Josh began his scouting career as a Cub Scout in 2nd grade at Johnsville Elementary in Blaine; and
WHEREAS, Josh has earned 22 merit badges, including Rifle Shooting, Swimming, Citizenship in the Community and Environmental Science; and
WHEREAS, as his Eagle Scout Project, Josh Bostrom completed the construction and installation of two informational kiosks - one at Pioneer Park and the other at Laddie Lake Park. He coordinated with the Blaine Natural Resources Conservation Board on the design and locations. The project involved organizing members of his troop, family and friends to assist in the construction and installation of the kiosks. The kiosks are built of treated lumber and feature a short roof and a plexi-glass cover to protect the information posted on the board. Josh secured donations from community organizations to cover 80% of the cost of the kiosks; and
WHEREAS, Josh Bostrom demonstrated exceptional organizational and leadership skills during the project process from planning through completion.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Blaine hereby proclaims Josh Bostrom an outstanding citizen and commends him for his hard work and extend their congratulations for having an Eagle Scout Award bestowed upon him by the Boy Scouts of America.
