Title

Authorize Temporary Removal of Parking Restrictions on 103^rd Lane and National Street for Centennial Elementary School Event on May 26, 2021 (Inclement Weather Day: May 27, 2021)

Background

The City of Blaine received a letter dated February 11, 2021, from Kathy Kaiser, Principal of Centennial Elementary School, requesting the temporary removal of parking restrictions on 103^rd Lane and National Street in order to allow parking on those streets from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on May 26, 2021, with an inclement weather date of May 27, 2021.  The school is hosting their annual 5^th Grade Track and Field meet during that time period and expects a need for additional parking to accommodate observers of the event.  City Council authorization is required for the temporary lifting of parking restrictions.  Over the past several years, City Council has authorized the temporary lifting of restrictions for this and other annual events held at Centennial Elementary School.

Staff Recommendation

By motion, authorize the temporary removal of parking restrictions on National Street and 103^rd Lane from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on May 26, 2021, with an inclement weather date of May 27, 2021.
