Title
APPROVE TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE FOR BLAINE FESTIVAL PARADE
Background
The Blaine Festival conducts a parade as part of the City celebration each year on the 4th Saturday of June. To help facilitate a safe environment for parade participants and residents, it is proposed to close Jefferson Street from 117th south to Territorial Road. The intersection of 109th and Jefferson will not be closed, however, will be monitored by Blaine Police to ensure safety and traffic flow on 109th. Approval and permit has been acquired through the County Highway Department. In addition, residents along the Jefferson will be notified by mail of the closure. A map showing the proposed closure is attached.
Recommendation
By motion, adopt the Resolution.

WHEREAS, the Blaine City Council is cognizant of providing regulation of vehicular traffic in a safe and responsible manner, and
WHEREAS, the City Ordinance requires a City Resolution authorizing the temporary closure of public roads, and
WHEREAS, the temporary closure will not adversely affect traffic safety,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Blaine City Council as follows:
1. A temporary road closure is hereby authorized on Jefferson Street from 117th Avenue south to Territorial Road, for the Blaine Festival Parade between the hours of 11:00 AM and 2:30 PM, June 25, 2016.
