Title
ACCEPTING THE PROPOSAL FOR A HOCKEY RINK AT LEXINGTON ATHLETIC COMPLEX IN THE AMOUNT OF $56,750 FROM RINK SYSTEMS, INC.

Background
Staff sent out a request for quotes for a set of portable hockey boards to four different rink companies in March.  Two quotes were received from two different rink companies, Becker Arena Systems and Rink Systems Inc.  Below are the results of the quotes:

Becker Arena Systems:  $71,500 (no goals)
Rink Systems:  $56,750 (with goals)

The price includes an 80' x 195' aluminum framed dasher system with ΒΌ" UV stabilized fiberglass facing. A 36" access gate, a 10' double door equipment gate, 1-5/8" schedule 20 galvanized steel netting support posts, 363 linear feet of 8' high black netting and all of the hardware. The rink also includes galvanized steel "freeze-in" plates for every board panel, shipping, a pair of NHL size goals and a supervisor for 32 hours to help with the first time installation.

On top of receiving the quotes, staff also toured the City of Plymouth's outdoor rinks which had a set of boards from both companies. Staff met with both companies to look at samples of their products and could not see a difference in either set of boards. At a savings of $14,750 staff is recommending acceptance of the Rink Systems Inc. quote.  The funding source is park dedication fees.  The project was budgeted for in the Parks CIP, for which Council approved up to $80,000 last December.

Recommendation
By motion, accept the quote from Rink Systems Inc. for portable hockey boards at Lexington Athletic Complex at a cost of $56,750.
