Title
AUTHORIZE PAYMENT FOR EIGHT RUGGEDIZED COMPUTERS FOR SQUAD CARS
Background
The requested action is pursuant to the Blaine City Charter section 6.05, which requires City Council approval of all purchases or contracts in excess of $10,000.
Staff is requesting approval to purchase eight ruggedized notebook computers for installation in squad vehicles. Four of the notebooks to be purchased are for installation in newer model Chevrolet Caprice vehicles and include all mounting brackets and hardware; and four notebooks include no additional hardware and will be installed in earlier model squads using existing mounting hardware. The four notebooks with mounting hardware would be purchased from Law Enforcement Technology Group (LETG) at a cost of $20,994, while the four without hardware would be purchased from NowMicro at a cost of $15,350. Funds were appropriated for this purchase in the 2014 Capital Equipment Fund Budget, and adequate funds exist to complete the purchase.
Recommendation
By motion, approve:
· The payment to LETG in the amount of $20,994 for four ruggedized squad computers with mounting hardware; and
· The payment to NowMicro for $15,350 for four ruggedized squad computers
