ACCEPT QUOTE FROM KEVIN CASEY, LLC IN THE AMOUNT OF $44,994.00 FOR FLOWERFIELD ROAD JD 1-2 CULVERT REPLACEMENT, IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 15-15
Background
A corrugated metal culvert under Flowerfield Road, just east of Naples Street has failed, causing a sinkhole in the street. Flowerfield Road is a road jointly owned by the City of Blaine (south half) and the City of Lexington (north half). The City of Lexington has agreed to have the City of Blaine lead a project to replace this culvert with a new concrete culvert and repair the road. The costs of this repair will be split between the City of Blaine and the City of Lexington.
Quotes were received on September 21, 2015, for Project No. 15-15. A total of three quotes were received ranging from $44,994.00 to $65,611.00. The Engineer’s estimate for construction and three lowest bidders are as follows:

Quotes have been checked and tabulated, and it has been determined that Kevin Casey, LLC of Prior Lake, MN submitted the lowest responsible quote. The Engineering Department has worked with Kevin Casey, LLC on previous contracts. I recommend the low bid be accepted and a contract entered into with Kevin Casey, LLC.
City Council is also asked to approve a 10% contingency to bring the total project budget to $49,493.00. The funding source for this project is the Stormwater Utility Fund and there are sufficient funds to cover these costs.
Recommendation
By motion, authorize the City Manager to accept the quote from Kevin Casey, LLC in the amount of $44,994.00 for the Flowerfield Road JD 1-2 Culvert Replacement project and authorize a 10% contingency, bringing the total project budget to $49,493.00, allowing the Public Services Manager to sign all change orders up to the authorized project budget amount.
