ACCEPT DONATIONS TO THE BLAINE POLICE DEPARTMENT
Background
The police department has received many donations from members of the community who are requesting they be given to BPD officers/staff. The list of donations is below.
These items are being brought to City Council per Minnesota Statute as noted below:
Minn. Stat. § 465.03 requires the City Council to “accept a grant or devise of real or personal property” by a resolution expressing the terms of the donation. Resolutions accepting such donations must be adopted by a two-thirds majority.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Blaine is generally authorized to accept donations of real and personal property pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Section 465.03 et seq. for the benefit of its citizens, and is specifically authorized to accept gifts.
WHEREAS, the following persons and entities have contributed cash and gift cards in the amounts set forth below to the city:

WHEREAS, the terms and conditions of the donations, if any, were to use for Blaine Police Department officers and staff as noted in greeting cards/letters.
WHEREAS, all donations have been contributed to the city for the benefit of its citizens, as allowed by law, and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is appropriate to accept the donations offered.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Blaine City Council
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Blaine this 3rd day of August 2020.
