ITEM: 12.6 ADMINISTRATION - Dan Szykulski, Police Lieutenant
Title
INSURANCE REPLACEMENT OF POLICE VEHICLES
Background
On February 21, 2013 Officer Nate Hatanpa's squad was struck while on a traffic stop by a drunk driver. Staff is requesting approval to purchase the replacement vehicle for the squad that was totaled from the Self Insurance Fund. Our vendor under the state contract (Ranger Chevrolet) had ordered a few extra police package vehicles when placing orders for departments around the state. We made contact with them and asked to hold one of the extra vehicles that they ordered for the City of Blaine. Delivery of police vehicles should be taking place within the next month or so. We have received payment from the other driver's insurance in the amount of $24,954.69 (which included equipment & graphics costs).
