APPROVE TREE SALE TREES
Background
For the past 15 years the City has been providing a tree sale for the residents. The trees are purchased from a nursery in a bare root form. The trees are delivered to the Public Works Facility at which time they are sorted and covered with mulch. On a Saturday, staff bags the root structure to keep it moist for the residents that come to pick up their trees. The sale has always been very successful and contributes to Blaine's Tree City designation. Bailey Nursery provided the trees for this year's sale. Staff purchased 380 trees of various species for $11,091.05. Residents purchased 365 of the trees for $11,173.50. We will plant the remaining 15 trees in some of our parks.
