Title

MNDOT DISCUSSION ON I35W PRELIMINARY DESIGN

Background

MNDOT Project Manager Jerome Adams and his consultant team will be presenting an update on the preliminary engineering and environmental assessment process required to reconstruct I35W from Hwy 36 in Roseville to Lexington Avenue in Blaine.  This is the next step in the project after the I35W North Managed Lanes Corridor Study was completed in 2013.

The goal of this project is to design a project that improves safety on the highway, increases the number of people that can use the highway during peak hours, provides reliable travel times for commuters during peak hours, and makes the best use of existing roads and bridges without acquiring homes or businesses.

The preliminary engineering and environmental assessment process is required to apply for state and federal funding.  The process will also confirm if the 2013 corridor study’s findings that MnPASS is a viable option for improving mobility on the corridor should be implemented.
