Background

At their December 5, 2013 meeting, Council authorized the City Manager to enter into contract with Short Elliott Hendrickson, Inc. in the amount of $450,639.00 for the preliminary and final design for reconstructing 125^th Avenue from Radisson Road through Harpers Street.  After the 60% plan was developed and prepared, as requested the consultant prepared and reviewed several potential cost saving design features including a no curb project, a hybrid project with curb/no curb, a project with trail segment elimination, and storm sewer modifications with cross sections based on these design feature changes.  The consultant provided these services which were outside the original project scope.  The additional services provided, total an amount of $30,034.  

Recommendation

By motion, amend the contract with Short Elliott Hendrickson, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $30,034, bringing the total contract amount to $480,673.
