Fire Chief Dan Retka, along with other SBM staff, will be recognized for recent promotions.
Background
SBM command staff, chief officers and firefighters will be introduced and recognized for their recent promotions. Chief Podany will initially introduce newly appointed Fire Chief Dan Retka, who will then introduce other SBM Staff members to the Council. The City of Blaine appreciates the service, professionalism, and dedication of these members and also asks members of the public to support SBMFD staff when you see them out our community.
Fire Chief- Dan Retka has been promoted to the rank of Fire Chief and shall serve as the first in command of the SBM Fire Department.
Deputy Fire Chief- Matt Grantz has been appointed to the rank of Deputy Fire Chief and shall serve as the second in command of the SBM Fire Department.
Station One - Tim Retka was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, call sign Lt. 15. Tim has been a member of the department since 2018 with over four years of service.
Station Two - Rob Payment was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, call sign Lt. 25. Rob has been a member of the department since 2010 with twelve years of service.
Station Three - Jeff Frahm was promoted to the rank of Captain, call sign Capt. 30. Jeff has been a member of the department since 2010 with twelve years of service.
Station Three - Mark Pennoyer was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, call sign Lt. 35. Mark has been a member of the department since 2015 with seven years of service.
Station Four - Chris Smit was promoted to the rank of Captain, call sign Capt. 40. Chris has been a member of the department since 2012 with over ten years of service.
