Title
ADOPT AMENDMENT TO THE CONTRACT TO FURNISH FIRE PROTECTION SERVICES TO THE CITIES OF BLAINE, MOUNDSVIEW AND SPRING LAKE PARK
Background
In 1994, the Cities of Blaine, Mounds View and Spring Lake Park entered into a contract with the Fire Department to furnish fire protection services. Pursuant to the contract, the Fire Department agreed to provide fire protection services within the geographic limits of the Cities, but not including Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) property located in Blaine.
Fire Protection services was one of the issues addressed as part of the term sheet that Council approved at the March 15, 2012 meeting that outlines the general agreement between the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) and the City of Blaine. If Council approves the contract with MAC for Fire Protection Services, an addendum to the JPA must be adopted along with this amendment. The intention of this Amendment is for the Fire Department to now provide fire protection services to the MAC property located in Blaine.
Recommendation
By motion adopt the amendment to the contract to furnish fire protection services to the cities of Blaine, Mounds View and Spring Lake Park.
