ITEM: 10.4 CONSENT AGENDA - Jean M. Keely, City Engineer
Title
AUTHORIZE TEMPORARY REMOVAL OF PARKING RESTRICTIONS ON 103RD LANE/NATIONAL STREETS FOR CENTENNIAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL EVENT ON SEPTEMBER 25, 2013 (RAIN DATE: OCTOBER 2, 2013)
Background
The City of Blaine received a letter on June 12, 2013 from Kathy Kaiser, Principal of Centennial Elementary School, requesting the temporary removal of parking restrictions on 103rd Lane and National Street in order to allow parking on those streets from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on September 25, 2013, with a rain date of October 2, 2013. The school is hosting an all-school walk-a-thon during that time period and expects a need for additional parking. In reviewing previously approved parking restrictions, National Street was recently posted to restrict parking and restricted parking on 103rd Lane has been in place for some time. City Council authorization is required for the temporary lifting of those parking restrictions. Over the past several years, City Council has authorized the temporary lifting of restrictions for this event and others, including their annual track and field days.
Recommendation
By motion, authorize the temporary removal of parking restrictions on National Street and 103rd Lane from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Septemter 25, 2013, with a rain date of October 2, 2013.
