Second Reading
Amending Appendix D - Fee Schedule Mary Ann Young Center Room Rental Fees
end
Executive Summary
The Parks and Recreation staff are proposing an updated fee schedule for room rentals at the Mary Ann Young Center (MAYC).
Background
First reading was held on August 2, 2021; no comments were received and no changes have occurred since first reading.
When the new Mary Ann Young Center opened, council approved a fee schedule for the rental of various rooms in MAYC. Initially, neither full-time nor part-time staffing was provided to monitor the building. With the need to provide a part-time building supervisor on-site for rentals at the center, Parks and Recreation staff revisited MAYC rental fees and incorporated the additional costs of this position into their rate analysis. The fees were reviewed at the July 19 council workshop and consensus was to bring the fee amendments forward as proposed. It is projected that room rentals would begin September 1, 2021.
Strategic Plan Relationship
While there is no direct link to the city’s adopted strategic plan, the fees would support the city’s strategic initiatives of financial stability and a well-maintained infrastructure.
Board/Commission Review

Financial Impact
The rental of these rooms would generate sufficient revenue to recover the costs of providing the space. Staff will review this program again in 2022 to determine if adjustments are necessary.
Public Outreach/Input
Once the final fees are effective after publication they will be posted.
Staff Recommendation
Staff requests that council hold second reading and adopt the proposed ordinance.
