Title
CLARIFYING AUTHORIZATION PURCHASE OF ONE TAX FORFEITED PARCEL IN THE CITY OF BLAINE
Background
On September 3, 2015, Council adopted Resolution 15-145 authorizing the purchase of 13 tax forfeited parcels in the City. These parcels were withheld from sale in 2008 but due to staff turnover at Anoka County are just coming forward for purchase at this time. One of the 13 parcels approved on September 3 should have been approved separately as the parcel is zoned street and can only be acquired for a public purpose based on a different State Statute than the other parcels’ designation. In addition, this parcel cannot be acquired like the others but requires an application and recording fees instead of an actual purchase price:
09-31-23-31-0003 (unbuildable) the parcel is too narrow, is zoned “street” and the city needs this parcel for the street and utility easement.
Staff is requesting that Council adopt a resolution authorizing the acquisition of one parcel, 09-31-23-31-0003 for public purpose of street as outlined by State Statute 282.01 subd 1a (e)(1).
Recommendation
Adopt the proposed resolution authorizing acquisition of the above Tax Forfeited Parcel in the City of Blaine as outlined above.

WHEREAS, the Blaine City Council has previously indicated interest in acquiring the tax forfeited parcel listed below to be used for public purpose; and
WHEREAS, this tax forfeited parcel is being used or will be used for authorized public purpose as street as outlined by State Statute 282.01 subd 1a (e)(1).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Blaine City Council hereby authorizes the acquisition of the following tax forfeited parcel for the required application fee and applicable recording fees:
