ACCEPT QUOTE FROM C.W. HOULE, INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $22,390.24 FOR EMERGENCY VALVE REPAIR AT WATER TOWER NO. 1, IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 15-19
Background
During the contractors work on reconditioning Water Tower No. 1, it was discovered that the main 24” valve on the outside of the tower was not operational and an existing valve on the inside of the tower was also leaking. After researching options it was decided to add a new 24” valve on the inside of the tower and replace the existing 12” valve. This emergency repair work will allow the original contractor to continue with the tower restoration project.

C. W. Houle, Inc. submitted the lowest responsible quote. The Engineering Department has worked previously with C. W. Houle, Inc. and recommends that the City Council accept their quote to perform the work.
City Council is also asked to approve a 10% contingency ($2,239.02) to bring the total project budget to $24,629.26.
The funding source for this project is the Water Utility Fund and there are sufficient funds to cover these costs.
Recommendation
By motion, authorize the City Manager to accept the quote from C. W. Houle, Inc. in the amount of $22,390.24 for emergency valve repair at Water Tower No. 1 and authorize the Public Services Manager to approve any changes via the Change Order process up to the total project budget of $24,629.26.
