RATIFICATION OF IUOE LOCAL 49 (PUBLIC WORKS) 2017-2019 UNION CONTRACT
Background
The City of Blaine and the Public Works Union (International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 49) have reached a tentative agreement on the following three year contract for 2017-2019. If approved, the contract would include the following adjustments:

Any EMPLOYEE designated “Lead Mechanic” by the Director of Public Works shall be paid $32.49/hour for the year 2017; $33.38/hour for the year 2018; and $34.38/hour for 2019.
2. An increase in the City’s monthly contribution to the cafeteria plan for the plan year 2017 of $50, making the monthly amount $1,140; an increase in the City’s monthly contribution to the cafeteria plan for 2018 of $50, which will make the monthly contribution $1,190; and an increase in the City’s monthly contribution to the cafeteria plan for 2019 of $50, which will make the monthly contribution $1,240.
3. Beginning in 2017, the uniform allowance for mechanics will be $225/year; for all other employees covered under this contract the uniform allowance will be $525 in 2017 and $550 in 2018 and 2019. Embroidering of uniform items with City logo and employee names will be done so by a City-selected vendor and paid for by the City.
4. Article 28, Section 28.1 regarding handling of seasonal employees in 1994 has been removed because of obsolescence.
RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION
By motion, ratify the Public Works Contract between the IUOE Local 49 and the City of Blaine for calendar years 2017-2019.
