AMEND THE CONTRACT WITH BARR ENGINEERING COMPANY TO UPDATE THE CITY’S WATER SYSTEM PLAN, IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 17-04

 

Background

Barr Engineering Company was hired to update the City’s Water System Plan, which is used to address the needs of the City in the areas of water supply, treatment, storage and distribution. 

 

During the work to update the plan, certain questions and issues arose and Barr Engineering Company was asked to do additional work that was outside of the scope of the original contract. 

 

This additional work included such things as investigating the water system interconnects with the City of Lexington, additional system pressure zone modeling, additional coordination of the Capital Improvement Plan and other miscellaneous items.  In addition the DNR has requested certain additional changes and modifications to the Water System Plan.

 

Staff is recommending that the contract with Barr Engineering Company be amended to a total contract amount of $81,953.53.  The original contract amount was $54,600.00.

 

Recommendation

By Motion, amend the contract amount with Barr Engineering Company for the Water System Plan Update, City Project No. 17-04, to a not to exceed amount of $81,953.53.
