AUTHORIZE CHANGE ORDER NO. 3 IN THE AMOUNT OF $31,841 FOR THE AQUATORE PARK SOFTBALL CONSTRUCTION AT 9191 LINCOLN STREET, IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 12-09
Background
On May 15, 2014, this project was awarded to Forest Lake Contracting, Inc. in the amount of $493,105.76, via Resolution No. 14-089. During construction, it has been discovered that there are more unsuitable soils on site than anticipated, as well as buried debris. This has required additional fill to be necessary. Other increases include a pedestrian ramp that has been requested for the existing parking lot east of the new ball field in order to become ADA compliant, and there has been a copper theft to the existing light poles that are being stored on site. These extra costs have put the contract cost over the 10% Council approved contract amount. Change Order No. 1 increased the contract by $11,531.50 for stump and debris removal. Change Order No. 2 increased the contract amount by $22,374.11 for the pedestrian ramp and copper theft. (The copper theft is covered by insurance in the amount of $9,176.57.) Change Order No. 3 will increase the contract amount by $31,841.00 to cover the increase in fill quantities.
Recommendation
By motion, approve Change Order No. 3 in the amount of $31,841.00 amending the total contract amount to $558,852.37, and authorizing the Public Services Manager to sign said Change Order No. 3.
