Title

AUTHORIZE NEXT PHASES OF I.T. BUSINESS REVIEW/ANALYSIS

Background

On October 15, 2015, Council authorized staff to negotiate a service agreement with Technology Management Corporation (TMC) to conduct a business analysis and review of the City’s Information Technology (IT) Division at a cost not to exceed $2,250.  That study was completed and reviewed with Council at the January 21, 2016 Workshop.  Consensus at the time was to solicit proposals from TMC and, if the proposals were acceptable, proceed with the next phases of the project.

TMC has provided proposals with the two areas that were identified as the highest priorities: The review of the City’s local area servers and storage network and the review of City’s cabling infrastructure.  The proposal for the review of servers and storage is for a cost not to exceed $21,320 and the proposal for cable infrastructure review is for a not to exceed amount of $5,160.  The total cost for all work performed by TMC is within the projected budget as established in the proposals discussed with Council in October 2015 and January 2016.

Recommendation

By motion, accept the proposals from TMC and authorize the expenditure of an amount not to exceed $21,320 for the review of the City’s server and storage network and an amount not to exceed $5,160 for the review of the City’s computer network cabling infrastructure.
