ITEM: 10.7 CONSENT AGENDA - Jean M. Keely, City Engineer
Title
AUTHORIZE TEMPORARY REMOVAL OF PARKING RESTRICTIONS ON THE EAST TH 65 SERVICE ROAD FROM 85TH AVENUE TO 87TH AVENUE FOR TWIN CITIES HARLEY-DAVIDSON BLAINE'S 25TH ANNIVERSARY EVENT ON JUNE 14, 2014
Background
On April 26, 2014, the City of Blaine received a request from David Crane, Marketing & Promotions Director of Twin Cities Harley-Davidson Blaine, requesting the temporary removal of parking restrictions on the East TH 65 Service Road from 85th Avenue to 87th Avenue in order to allow parking from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2014. Twin Cities Harley-Davidson Blaine is hosting an event celebrating their 25th anniversary during that time period and expects a need for additional parking to accommodate a large influx of customers for the event. City Council authorization is required for temporary lifting of parking restrictions for this event. Due to the narrow street width of the Service Road, Staff recommends only lifting restrictions on the east side. City Council authorized a similar temporary lifting of restrictions for one of their events in 2006, along with numerous events for various businesses in Blaine over the past eight years.
Recommendation
By motion, authorize the temporary removal of parking restrictions on the east side of the East TH 65 Service Road from 85th Avenue to 87th Avenue between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2014.
